Blackfoot students will soon have a new choice for their high school education. Bingham Academy, Bingham County’s new charter high school, has been approved to open in August, 2014. While the founding board hoped to begin classes this year, board members agree that the delay will be an opportunity to better prepare.

With a sharp focus on providing unique and extensive opportunities for high school students to complete college credits, Bingham Academy believes that every motivated student can complete two years of college before high school graduation.

Bingham has already established a program where colleges such as the University of Wisconsin, MIT, and the United States Naval Academy grant credit for courses they will teach.

The school has been awarded a $600,000 Federal Charter School Start-Up Grant and a $250,000 Albertson’s Foundation Grant to defray initial costs.

Bingham is planning to lease renovated space at the Riverside Plaza and will open with approximately 100 students in grades 9 and 10. Grades 11 and 12 will be added in succeeding years. For more information, please call (208) 557-4003

Bingham Academy's mission

The mission of Bingham Academy (BA) is to prepare students to make intelligent and appropriate decisions about their education and future careers. Students who are motivated will be able to complete an Associate Degree by the time they graduate from high school.

Bingham Academy will provide extensive opportunities for high school students to earn both secondary and postsecondary credit during their high school years. Whether they choose a traditional university, a professional-technical school, or other specialized postsecondary training, the focus will be to maximize each individual's high school experience toward postsecondary education

Each student will come to understand that high school is a preliminary step and that postsecondary education is essential to career success. Bingham Academy will provide a safe and supportive environment where each child student can optimize learning.
